ARC WELDING
Level 1
SUMMARY
In this 80 hour introductory class, Level 1 students will learn the basics of arc welding; what it is, welding safety, set up and equipment operation and how to make beads and fillet welds in four (4) positions: flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead. This is an 80 hour class taught in two (2) weeks.
Jeff Ballard, a NCCER-certified instructor and a current CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) and CWE ( Certified Welding Educator) and member of the American Welding Society with over 49 years of metal fabrication experience, provides guidance and quality control to all of Extollo's welding instruction. Before joining Extollo, Jeff was the Welding Department Chair at York Technical College in Rock Hill, South Carolina after a long and successful career running his own metal fabrication shop.
CERTIFICATES
Students are tested in three areas.
1) Written test
2) Practical Exam
3) Work ethic, interpersonal skills, leadership
Scores are averaged and students are required to pass with a 70% or higher in order to receive a certificate. Each certificate will indicate what level the student achieved.
COSTS
The cost of this intensive Level 1 class is $375 USD. A limited number of scholarships are available for qualified students.

JOB PROSPECTS
Students certified from Extollo with a Level 1 certificate will have gained core trade skills for employment. They still need continued experience practicing these newly found skills, but many are equipped to join an experienced crew in their certified trade and some will be ready to even start their own business.
